Ok so this did not end up resolving my issue so I have resorted to using a new email client on the Android.
K9 mail is what I am currently using and I have not had any problems with it since I installed it.

After doing the Telus 2.1.1 update on the milestone I ran into this issue. I had to follow the steps from the article.
From the phone go to
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > [menu >Filter – Running] > select Email > Clear data.
This will clear ALL settings for any email account setup (except the Gmail account) and you’ll have to setup the account again.
The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly – Android Help.
So we decided it would be a great day to go to the zoo and Amanda had a great idea. Lets bring Bryce on the train. Here are some pictures of the train ride.
